It was just over a month ago that our crew made the trip back from Squamish and resumed our everyday lives in Vancouver. Festival season has come to its conclusion, the weather has started to get a little cooler and schools have re-opened for the fall. For centuries, the Squamish Valley in British Columbia has been a gathering place of different communities for the purpose of celebration. For the natives, the river that carves its way through the valley was used as a meeting place between tribes. For the electronic dance community in BC, it was the birthplace of the outdoor electronic festival culture. This Friday at W2, we have the Librarian joining us from nearby Squamish. As you may know, she is the main curator of Bass Coast – the hypest new festival on the west coast, which is really gaining momentum heading into its 3rd year. It might be an unusual pseudonym for a dubstep DJ, but trust me, this is one Librarian who’s more than happy to let her hair down. (Sorry). Based in the beautiful town of Squamish just north of Vancouver itself, Andrea Graham isn’t your typical dubstep DJ either. She calls her vision of dubstep “sexy, powerful, and spacious,” and though I might be the “writer” here truth be told I’m having a hard time coming up with a better description…. FULL ARTICLE HERE
